Frequently Asked Questions
What is the AGF (Alberta Gymnastics Federation) Fee and why do I have to pay it every year?
The AGF Fee is a yearly fee, paid directly to the Alberta Gymnastics Federation. This fee covers your athletes insurance, and registration through both AGF and Gymnastics Canada. All AGF associated gymnastics clubs MUST charge this fee so your athlete can practice gymnastics in Alberta. The AGF provides support, guidance and training that is crucial to the existence of the gymnastics program, to it's athletes and to their clubs.
The 2019-2020 Yearly AGF Fee cost is $54 (including tax) at Airborne. As there are further restrictions, and increased insurance coverage for trampoline usage, all Airborne athletes are registered as a "Developmental" or "CanJump" athlete. This fee is transferable between club to club. If your athlete has participated in another AGF gymnastics program and has paid this fee within the gymnastics year (July 1st - June 30th), then Airborne can waive this fee. We will need to see proof of payment of the Developmental or CanJump membership level, or there may be an additional $15 upgrade fee to this level of membership.
At Airborne, we do no add any additional administrative or processing costs to the AGF Fee, the $54 fee is the allocated cost directly from AGF.

How do I register for a class?
All of our program registration is done online through an secure online system called Amilia. The Amilia program allows you to pay from the convenience of your home with credit card or with banking information. At Airborne, we do not charge any additional processing fees to use the Amilia system.
Airborne does require full payment when registering for a program. In the case of an NSF charge, Airborne reserves the right to charge a $20 administrative fee.
In the case of a KidSport or JumpStart application, families must register for the class to secure their spot. Once Airborne receives notification of funding, we will refund the full price back to the family.

For Parents
I want to discuss something with my child's coach, what is the best way to do that?
To allow for the maximum number of teaching hours, classes generally run back to back. This means that there is no "down time" between classes in which to have a chat with your coach. In order to provide a safe coaching and learning environment and ensure that the athletes have their coaches full undivided attention during their entire class, we would ask that you please direct your questions via email. We will do our best to either schedule a time to speak with you directly or answer you via email.
How will I know if my child is ready to progress to new skills or a new level?
Your child's coach is the best person to determine when they should begin trying new skills or be assessed to move up to a new level. For example, there are many skills that must be mastered before a child is permitted to attempt a flip on the trampoline. This is for their safety. And a child must be of the right age, emotional readiness and show proficiency in all skills at their current level before being considered for the next. If you want to discuss your child's current situation, please contact your coach or our administration team by telephone or the contact form on this website to set up a time to do so. Please do not try to discuss during your child's (or someone else's) training time.
My child is complaining of a sore lower back?
You are always the best judge of your child's health. However, please note that this is a very common low level injury in beginners. The muscles needed to support the upper body are put through a good workout during a trampoline class. It is normal for these muscles to be sore after prolonged use while the body adapts to new tasks being asked of it. With time and excersice this will lessen and eventually disapper.
Why do I keep seeing waffle like bruises and scrapes on my child's knees, elbows, ankles, back or shoulders?
As children are learning proper landing positions, these are more common and will reduce over time as your child becomes more skilled. The waffle like bruises are caused by the textured strings of the trampoline bed and an improper landing. The scrapes or "tramp burn" will happen from time to time even with the most skilled of athletes. If either are bothersome, trampoline shoes or socks can help with the feet and ankles and a fitted T-shirt or longer shorts/leggings can help with the torso and limbs. Please note that competitive athletes will require proper training attire to ensure their safety.
For Athletes
Why do I have to keep doing the same thing over and over?
The reason we practice the easy stuff over and over is because it is the foundation for learning and properly executing the harder stuff. For example: if you can do a perfect back or seat drop, then when you are trying something harder and you falter, you will know how to get yourself into a safe (back or seat drop) position to land.
What if I have to miss a class?
If you have to miss a class, please let us know as soon as you can so that we can plan accordingly. Unfortunately, we cannot make up missed classes however, competitive athletes can use the drop in to catch up on missed training time.
Why can't we be on the floor before and after class/training?
Safety first! If your coach is not on the floor yet and able to supervise you (they need a break in between classes too) then it is not safe to be on the apparatus or playing on the floor. Please sit quietly near the edge of the floor and wait for your group and your coach to start your class.
